Gem Lab Certification
IGI-GTL
For over 40 years, the Indian Gemmological Institute – Gem Testing Laboratory (IGI-GTL) has been deploying its unbiased gemological testing services to buyers and the gem and jewellery industry. The project was initiated in 1978, by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council.
Ever since its inception, IGI-GTL has been instrumental in offering guidance to numerous government agencies and gemmological training institutes. The pillars of this project are rooted in quality service and dissemination of knowledge regarding the authenticity of gemstones amongst people from the industry and buyers across the country.
The single-minded objective of IGI-GTL is to detect impurities and synthetics in gemstones so that a buyer is well aware of the possible risks before investing their money. To ensure authenticity, the lab is well equipped with advanced technological innovations like Diamond View, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Ultra Violet-Visible-Near Infrared Spectroscopy (UV-VIS-NIR), DiaMension, Q.Check and Synthdetect.
Each report issued by IGI-GTL is carefully drafted after thorough expert analysis. The comprehensive report contains all details regarding the identification and diagnosed treatment of the gemstone.
